11 Jul THE WINNERS OF INTRECCINCANTIERE 12 REVEALED
The twelfth edition of Intreccincantiere, the international fashion contest organised by Manifattura di Domodossola in close partnership with Lineapelle and Banco BPM Group, has successfully come to an end. The initiative continues to establish itself as a unique launch pad for the new generations of creative talent. Once again this year, more than 100 emerging talents from some of the world’s most prestigious academies and design schools competed on the theme selected by the company: sport as an endless source of inspiration, in honour of the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games.
The most deserving projects were selected by a highly qualified jury comprising leading journalists, fashion designers, opinion leaders and experts from the fashion and design industries. The jury carefully assessed each proposal, rewarding the originality of the concept, technical expertise and the ability to enhance the materials. The members of this year’s jury included: Jane Chen (Founder of Little Italy), Simone Botte (fashion designer and founder of the Simon Cracker brand), Paola Arosio (Head of New Brands & Sustainability Projects at the Italian National Fashion Chamber), Filippo Cavalli (Partner at Quadrivio Group), Ildo Damiano (journalist and fashion editor specialising in fashion and communication), Candida Morvillo (Corriere della Sera journalist, author and commentator), Julian Hargreaves (photographer), and Galib Gassanoff (fashion designer, creative director and founder of Institution).
The winners who best interpreted the theme across the different categories are:
- LEATHER GOODS: group consisting of Kexin Chen, Donna Sofia Chavez and Yayan Li (Brera Art High School, Milan)
- DESIGN: Ruby Michel Berryman (IED, Florence)
- FASHION: Sebastiano Carella (Poliarte – Academy of Design, Ancona)
- SCHOOL AWARD: IED Turin
The School Award is presented to the institution that distinguished itself through the overall quality of the submitted projects and the professional rigour demonstrated throughout every stage of the contest.
The curtain will officially come down on the twelfth edition on 20 October, when the awards ceremony will take place at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan. It will be a special occasion dedicated to celebrating contemporary design and the synergies between academic education and Italian industry.
“Seeing the work of these young designers fills us with pride and enthusiasm,” commented the Polli family. “Twelve editions bear witness to our ongoing commitment to providing space and a voice for the future of fashion. The art of weaving, a cornerstone of our tradition, continues to evolve and renew itself thanks to the fresh vision of these extraordinary talents.”
During the October event, industry professionals and enthusiasts will have the opportunity to admire the winning prototypes up close and meet the future leading figures of the international creative scene.
